Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 1 May, all cities of Uzbekistan introduced a procedure for issuing preferential transport cards to certain categories of citizens for free use of urban passenger transport, with the exception of fixed-route and direct taxis. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

In accordance with the law "On the regulation of the free use of urban passenger transport", the right to free use of urban public transport is granted to the following categories of citizens:

participants in the war of 1941-1945 from among the military;

disabled veterans of the war of 1941-1945 and a person accompanying a disabled veteran of the 1st group on trips;

persons awarded orders and medals for selfless work and impeccable military service in the rear during the war of 1941-1945;

citizens from among the former internationalist military personnel who took part in the hostilities in the Republic of Afghanistan and on the territory of other countries;

servicemen of active fixed-term military service and servicemen under the contract of private and non-commissioned officers;

persons who fell ill and suffered from radiation sickness caused by the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant;

persons with a disability-blind and a person accompanying a person with a disability-blind on trips.

Also, a preferential transport card issued to disabled people of group I and deaf-blind people with disabilities during the Great Patriotic War gives the right to free use of urban passenger transport even to one person accompanying them on trips.

Preferential transport cards are not issued to active military personnel, privates under contract, as well as non-commissioned servicemen. They enjoy the right to travel free of charge in urban passenger transport upon presentation of a military ticket or an identity card of a contracted serviceman.

To obtain preferential transport cards, it will be necessary to apply either to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the transport departments of the regions and the city of Tashkent, or to a single portal of interactive public services.
