Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of Asia Metal Prof LLC in Samarkand.

In 2018-2022, projects worth US$110 million were implemented at this large plant with Chinese partners, including attracting US$33 million of foreign direct investment.

So, in December 2018, galvanized and polymerized metal sheets began. At the second stage, which started in 2021, the production of metal pipes and profiles in 2021 was adjusted. Since February 2022, hot-rolled metal sheets and construction profiles have also been produced.

These products can not only replace imports, but also be in demand on the foreign market. In particular, the company exported goods worth US$63 million last year. This figure is expected to be even higher this year. Currently, it employs 520 people. The Head of state visited the construction site of the fourth stage of the project – an enterprise for the production of fittings. It will be able to cast 390 thousand tons of rebar per year and create 150 new jobs.

It is planned to implement another five projects in 2023-2025. A total of US$621 million will be invested in them. As a result, the production of 1.7 million tons of metal products and 10 million square meters of glass will be established. 930 new jobs will be created.

The President stressed the need to increase export competitiveness through localization and cost reduction.
