The parliamentary commission focused on the issues of wastewater and alternative energy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A regular meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for monitoring the implementation of national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period up to 2030 was held.

It reviewed the work in the field of sustainable development, including the status of ongoing work on the treatment of domestic wastewater from multi-storey buildings, household and industrial enterprises (SDG target 6.3) in the Tashkent region and Tashkent city.

It was noted that 16 districts and 9 cities of the Tashkent region serve 9 wastewater treatment facilities, 12 districts of Tashkent - 3 treatment facilities. 7 of these facilities do not meet the performance requirements.

The content of harmful substances in wastewater discharged from treatment facilities into the environment exceeded the established norm. For example, ammonium nitrogen is 2-3 times higher than the norm, phosphorites - 7 times and suspended solids - 1.5 times.

The results of studies conducted by the working group of the Parliamentary Commission on improving energy efficiency and introducing alternative energy sources (the 7th goal of the SDG) in Andijan and Kashkadarya regions were also discussed.

As noted, solar panels with a capacity of 10300 kW, solar water heating equipment with a volume of 9 thousand liters were installed at social facilities in the Andijan region, solar panels with a capacity of 5629 kW were installed at the facilities of business entities, in the homes of residents with a capacity of 10961 kW, as well as solar water heaters with a volume of 25.9 thousand liters.

And in Kashkadarya region, solar photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 12.9 MW, a solar collector with a capacity of 8.1 thousand liters, solar panels with a capacity of 6.2 MW for 193 business entities and a capacity of 1.6 MW for 761 households were installed at 1242 facilities, as well as solar collector with a capacity of 4.8 thousand liters.

In turn, due to the passivity of propaganda work on the introduction of energy-saving technologies and high prices in Andijan region, solar panels with a capacity of 7,400 kW instead of 28,800 kW (38% compared to the plan) were installed in the houses of residents, in the Kashkadarya region with a capacity of 1,871 kW instead of 7400 kW (25% compared to the plan).

In addition, 1 million 245 thousand incandescent lamps are used in 691,570 houses of residents of Kashkadarya region instead of energy-saving lamps. It was noted that because of this, 204 million kW of electricity worth 60.3 billion soums per year are not saved.

Based on the foregoing, a number of proposals and instructions were given to eliminate the identified shortcomings and problems, and specific tasks were identified.

In particular, tasks such as regular monitoring of the water quality of underground water sources, analysis of changes in water quality in them and the amount of water used, re-registration of alternative water sources (spring, well, pond, groundwater, etc.) and development of predictive indicators of their stocks.

A number of tasks were also entrusted to develop the Law “On the Rational Use of Energy” in a new edition, analyze prices for solar panels imported into the republic, and develop proposals for acquiring them at affordable prices for the population.

As a result of the discussion, the relevant decisions of the Parliamentary Commission were adopted.
