Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 June, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, deputies considered and adopted in three readings the bill “On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in jointly promoting the railway project “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan”, signed on 6 June 2024 in Beijing.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Yrysbek Bariev noted that the adoption of this bill will allow the practical implementation of the project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway to begin.
The implementation of this project will have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan, improve transport services for the population and contribute to the development of transport infrastructure.
Bariev emphasized that the new railway corridor will become the southern branch of the Eurasian continental bridge, providing access to the markets of Southeast and Western Asia, as well as the countries of the Middle East. This route will ensure the delivery of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan and the countries of Central Asia, the Middle East, including Turkey and further to the European Union.
The project will also increase competitiveness in the international transit market by reducing the distance and time of cargo delivery.
