Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 May, an opening ceremony of a joint working center for Central Asian media took place in Khorgos (PRC).

Representatives of the China News Service, heads of the press center of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and journalists from Central Asian countries who attended the ceremony emphasized the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience to bring peoples closer together and promote common goals, such as the Belt and Road Initiative".

 

“Today, taking advantage of the unique political and geographical advantages of the Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation on the China-Kazakhstan border, we are establishing the Central Asia Joint Media Working Point to promote exchange and cooperation between Xinjiang and Central Asian media, promoting mutual understanding between our peoples. We hope our media friends will use this platform to strengthen cooperation, deepen friendship and share the story of friendship between Xinjiang and Central Asia, as well as the joint construction of the "One Belt, One Road," said Li Dehua, head of CNS Xinjiang Branch.

The head of the Xinjiang branch of CNS emphasized that the importance of opening a media work station, which can help better inform the parties on various events held by the countries of Central Asia, and will also allow readers to quickly learn about the events that are taking place in Central Asia, in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, in the Ili-Kazakh Autonomous Okrug, Khorgos.

“Friendly ties between China and Uzbekistan go back to the distant past, to the era of the Great Silk Road. Two thousand years ago, the two peoples established friendly exchanges, mutual study and borrowing between East and West, and formed the spirit of the Great Silk Road, which is characterized by peace, cooperation, openness and tolerance. Both countries made important contributions to the development of world civilization. The Great Silk Road has become the common wealth of China and Uzbekistan and the knot of friendship of their peoples,” added Chen Xueliang, deputy director of the press service of the Xinjiang government.

As the speakers noted, this Center will promote mutual understanding between our peoples and Central Asian media journalists will use this platform to strengthen cooperation, deepen friendship between Xinjiang and Central Asia, as well as the joint construction of the “One Belt, One Road” project.

In addition to business meetings and working sessions, the press tour schedule also included a cultural program, during which journalists visited the most famous city attractions, and also had the opportunity to become better acquainted with the rich Chinese culture and culinary traditions of the Middle Kingdom.
