The Oliy Majlis expresses concern over deaths in private medical institutions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Gulnora Abduvokhidova, a member of the faction of the Social-Democratic Party "Adolat" in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, has sent an inquiry to the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Asilbek Khudayarov, regarding the increasing number of serious health damage and fatalities resulting from improper treatment in private medical institutions.

According to the press service of the party, in her appeal, the deputy noted that the rising number of deaths or disabilities caused by incorrect diagnoses or treatments in some private clinics has caused serious public concern.

The data presented in the inquiry shows a significant increase in the number of court rulings related to crimes committed by healthcare workers due to improper performance of their professional duties: from 67 in 2023 to 94 in 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, 16 such rulings have already been issued.

As an example, Gulnora Abduvokhidova cited cases of patient deaths in private clinics in Fergana and Bukhara, which were widely discussed on social media, as well as a case of severe harm to a young blogger’s health following an unsuccessful plastic surgery. The deputy emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the causes of this negative trend and the implementation of urgent measures to address it.

In her inquiry, the parliamentarian raised several questions to the Ministry of Health. In particular, she is interested in the true causes of the increase in tragic cases in private medical institutions and what measures the ministry is taking to prevent them. The deputy also asked whether each case of death, disability, or serious health damage in private clinics is being analyzed and what specific steps have been taken to prevent similar situations from occurring.

Furthermore, Gulnora Abduvokhidova inquired about whether there is a systemic mechanism to ensure the proper application of medical procedures and compliance with approved protocols in private institutions, as well as what measures have already been implemented in this regard. Special attention in the inquiry was given to the issue of tightening licensing requirements and conditions for the operation of private clinics to ensure the reliable protection of citizens' health.

The deputy demanded that, in accordance with the "Parliamentary Control" law, the Minister of Health provide a reasoned response to all the questions raised within ten days.
