Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The number of Internet users in Uzbekistan has exceeded 31 million, Sherzod Shermatov, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, said while speaking at the "government hour" in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

According to the minister, 29.5 million users use the mobile Internet.

The speed of connection to the international Internet channel has reached 3200 Gbps, having increased by 2.6 times over the past two years.

At the same time, the capacity of inter-regional backbone telecommunication networks reached 600 Gbit/s, inter-district - 60 Gbit/s.

In the last two years, 102,000 km of fiber optic communication lines have been laid in Uzbekistan. As a result, their total length has reached 170,000 km.

In 2021-2022 about 1.7 million broadband ports were installed. This made it possible to connect 4.4 million households, business entities and social facilities to broadband Internet.

In Uzbekistan in 2021-2022 22.3 thousand new mobile communication base stations were installed. The total number of base stations in Uzbekistan amounted to 54 thousand.

Mobile communication network coverage is 99% of the country, broadband mobile Internet - 98%.
