Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over the past three to four years, the number of civil airlines in Uzbekistan has increased sixfold. This was announced by the Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan Oleg Lim.

Commenting on the increase in the number of airlines, he noted that 15 airlines operate in Uzbekistan, TASS reports.

According to him, six companies are engaged in passenger transportation and three in cargo transportation. The rest are engaged in aviation work.

“Just three or four years ago we had only one carrier - Uzbekistan Airways,” he emphasized on the sidelines of the international economic forum “Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum”.

Lim also added that the number of aviation incidents in Uzbekistan has now been reduced to a minimum.
