Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A number of meetings were held on the first day of the visit of the Chairman of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva to South Korea. Thus, during a meeting with the Chairman of the Korea-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Association Park Kwang-on, an exchange of views took place on intensifying cooperation between parliaments in order to further strengthen bilateral relations and enrich them with practical content.

In particular, in order to further develop inter-parliamentary cooperation, it is proposed to hold the next meeting of friendship groups in Seoul in 2024. Issues of expanding relations with the Commission for Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, headed by the Chairman of the Senate, were also discussed in order to ensure parliamentary control over the implementation of high-level agreements (“road maps”) and the entire complex of Uzbek-Korean cooperation.

At the same time, the parties focused on socio-economic areas, including poverty reduction and the creation of new jobs, improving the healthcare system, projects to mitigate the negative consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea, and improving the ecosystem of the Aral Sea region.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further strengthening cooperation on all issues discussed.
