Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The new Consul General of Uzbekistan Jamil Sharapov began his duties in New York, Dunyo news agency reports.

Before that, he worked as Deputy Director of the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is 42 years old. He graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). Before his appointment to New York, he worked in various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.

Jamil Sharapov replaced Kamol Ikramov, who headed the Consulate General in New York in 2018–2023.
