The new Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents his credentials to the President of the United States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov in Washington DC presented his credentials to US President Joe Biden at the White House.

“It was a great honor and privilege for me to meet with President Joe Biden,” Furkat Sidikov wrote on his Twitter page. “I am looking to expand friendship and cooperation between our countries and further strengthen our strategic partnership.”

Furkat Sidikov, who previously worked as First Deputy Foreign Minister, is 52 years old. In 1993 he graduated from the Tashkent State Technical University, worked at the UzDaewooElectronics joint venture, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan. Since 2002, in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held various posts, including the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, Ambassador to Pakistan, Deputy and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He speaks English and Russian. He and his wife are raising four children.

He replaced Javlon Vakhabov, who in 2017-2023 was the ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, as well as concurrently in Canada and Brazil.

Earlier, Furkat Sidikov presented a copy of his credentials to US State Department Protocol Chief Rufus Gifford.
