The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan denies reports that Russian oil is displacing Kazakh oil on the market of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has denied information that Russian oil is displacing Kazakh oil in the Uzbekistan market.

“On some Internet resources, news has appeared that Russian oil supplies to the Uzbekistan market are displacing Kazakh oil. I wanted to say that this is not true. To date, 87 thousand tons of Kazakh oil have been transported to Uzbekistan. If we manage to agree on improved supply conditions, the volume will increase accordingly. The volume of Russian oil is indeed supplied to the territory of Uzbekistan, but it is much lower than the volumes of our Kazakh producers,” said Vice Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenjenov.

Oil is supplied to Uzbekistan from the Shagyr oil loading station in Shymkent and the Kasymov oil pumping station in Atyrau. At the same time, at the end of 2022, the export of Kazakh oil to Uzbekistan amounts to 0.13 percent of the total volume, the Ministry of Energy noted.

According to the Ministry of Energy, in accordance with the agreement on the transit of 300 thousand tons of Russian oil through Kazakhstan, 79 thousand tons have been delivered to Uzbekistan since the beginning of the year, SputnikKZ reports.
