The Ministry of Economy and Finance presented the achievements of the green growth working group during the round table of the Country Platform of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Country Platform for Uzbekistan is a coordination mechanism designed to improve the interaction of the Government of Uzbekistan with its international partners, helping the country achieve its development goals and implement strategic reforms and important government programs.

The mechanism of the country platform was presented in October 2019 at the annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund in Washington. In 2020, Uzbekistan became one of the 13 pilot countries that agreed to test this mechanism to maximize the effect of donor assistance.

During the Country Platform meeting in January 2023, participants agreed to create 12 working groups, focusing on relevant social and economic sectors and helping to accelerate reforms in certain priority areas. They include development partners and interested government agencies working together on specific goals set out in the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026 and other government programs, and mobilizing the necessary financial and technical assistance from donors to achieve them.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, as the governing body of the Green Growth Working Group within the framework of the Country Platform, works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, presented the results of cooperation with international donors (World Bank, FAR, UNDP, OECD, ADB, EU, EBRD, GIZ, I-REC, Korean Government and Japan, etc.).

Following the meeting, the Ministry of Economy and Finance proposed further close cooperation of state bodies with donors in the framework of promoting a "green" economy and "green" growth.
