The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences sign a “road map”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the Uzbek-Hungarian business forum, Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov met with the rector of the Hungarian Mate University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences Chaba Dyurich. During the meeting, issues of developing cooperation in the field of agricultural education and science were considered.

MATE is the largest agricultural university in Hungary and Central Europe. The exchange of experience with this agrarian university in the field of science is of great importance.

It is planned to establish a scientific exchange, an exchange of students, professors, scientists and teachers with this university, which has 11 research institutes.

In this regard, one of the important points of the meeting was the signing of the "Road Map" between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences to further expand the activities of the Uzbek-Hungarian center for potato growing.

It includes the following questions:

organizing the supply of additional seed material for further mass reproduction within the framework of the Uzbek-Hungarian Potato Center;

organization of short- and long-term internships to study the modern program of selection and seed production of potato varieties at the MATE Potato Research Station;

attraction of a specialist from Hungary to establish the work of the molecular diagnostic room, which is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2023;

involvement of Hungarian employees in the activities of the Center

with a scientific degree in the areas of "plant pathology", "physiology of potato storage" and "quality control".

It should be noted that the signing of this document was preceded by a meeting between Minister Aziz Voitov and the rector of the University of Hungary, which took place on September 30 this year. We wrote about it here.

Also during the meeting, it was agreed that MATE University would support the participation of Uzbek young scientists in the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program for the 2023/2024 academic year. An agreement was reached that "MATE" will determine the Hungarian leaders of scientific work for Uzbek scientists.

The parties also plan to establish and expand joint programs for training undergraduate students.

In February-March 2023, 2 doctoral students of the Samarkand branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University will be sent to MATE to take a refresher course.

The participation of Uzbek students and scientists in the "Erasmus +" curriculum in the direction of "food security" and "processing of agricultural products" will be organized.

The system of issuing double diplomas will be established jointly with such Hungarian agricultural universities as MATE, Debrecen University of Agricultural Sciences and others.

It should be noted that most of the foreign companies that visited our country in connection with the business forum expressed their interest in establishing cooperation in the field of agriculture.
