Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 December, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov met with the teams and coaches that took part in the NEERC (semi-final of the ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest) final of the international programming competition.
The meeting was also attended by IT Park Deputy Director for the Development of Digital Education Makhliyo Mukhsinova, TUIT Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov, team coach and TUIT doctoral student Sunatillo Khojiev, Deputy Director of the Moscow State University branch in Tashkent Tolib Karshiev, trainer and dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics Shukhrat Sheraliev.
ICPC is considered the world’s largest student programming championship. Every year, more than 2,000 students from more than 500 universities test their strength in competitions.
The NEERC final (ICPC semi-final) of the international programming competition was held on 6-7 December in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
In total, 281 teams of the North Eurasian region from the universities of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and others took part in the competition. 16 teams went to the competition from Uzbekistan, two of which were awarded certificates:
1. Team "Awesome Team" - Tashkent branch of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. The team was awarded a 2nd degree diploma after working on 5 tasks.
2. Algo Experts team - Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi. The team was awarded a 3rd degree diploma for working on 4 tasks.
The participants of the competition had to solve 12 problems, of which the teams of Russian universities MIPT and HSE, who took 1st and 2nd places, solved 10 problems each.
According to the results of the competition, 69 teams (for solving 4 problems) were awarded certificates of the 3rd level, 27 teams (for solving 5-6 problems) - of the 2nd level, 13 teams (for solving 7+ problems) - of the 1st level.
During the meeting, the Minister of ICT expressed gratitude to the participants, mentors and rectors of universities for their success in the field of information technology and for receiving honorary certificates in the ICPC Global semi-finals. He noted that such achievements help Uzbekistan reach a significantly new level and assured that the ministry would provide support not only to universities, but also to schools, so that in the future participants from Uzbekistan would take even more prizes in various competitions.
