Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Me’mor Architectural Competition//2023 has started in Uzbekistan. This year, the prize fund of the competition will amount to 215 million soums. The theme of Me’mor//2023 was a quote by Zaha Hadid "Architecture is how a person arranges himself in space."

On 15 May 2023, the acceptance of applications from architects, interior designers, landscape designers, students of specialized universities and journalists for participation in the Me’mor//2023 architectural review competition began.

The winners will receive from 6 to 10 million soums. Grand Prix winner - 15 million soums. This year, the organizers divided each nomination into the categories “project” and “implemented project”.

Students (student groups) can submit works only in the "Project" category. The winner is determined in each nomination.

Journalists can submit articles to any nomination of the "Implemented Project" category. Among all the participants-journalists, the jury will choose the only winner of Me’mor//2023.

Participation in the competition is free. The competition was organized by the group of enterprises KNAUF in Uzbekistan.

“The theme of Me’mor//2023 was a quote from the legendary Zaha Hadid “Architecture is how a person arranges himself in space.” We are close to the approach that says that architecture is not only a building or an object, but emotions and impressions. The goal of the competition has remained unchanged: to motivate creators to seek and implement original solutions, and journalists to cover significant events and projects. The inspiration, motivation and competencies of architects directly affect the appearance of our cities,” said Dmitry Deripalko, head of Knauf enterprises in Uzbekistan.

As in previous years, eminent architects from Uzbekistan, Georgia, Romania, Ukraine, and Israel will choose the best projects of Me’mor//2023.

Competitive categories and nominations Me’mor//2023:

1. Residential buildings - "Individual residential building", "Multi-storey residential building";

2. Public buildings - "Commercial facility", "Administrative building";

3. Design - "Interior of the premises", "Interior in national traditions";

4. Landscaping - "Landscape of a private site", "Design of public space".

In past years, the review competition evoked a lively response from architects and designers from all over Uzbekistan. In 2019, participants submitted 123 papers, in 2021 — 242.

On 24-25 May, the winners of Me’mor//2021 will visit the Knauf Werktage, a professional forum for construction industry specialists held in Germany. The trip is financed by the organizer of the competition.
