The Legislative Chamber approved a bill declaring the presence of foreigners and stateless persons in Uzbekistan unacceptable

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – At a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, a draft law "On Amending and Supplementing the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Uzbekistan” was considered.

The document, developed by a group of deputies exercising their legislative initiative rights, is motivated by the need to introduce additional measures to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan in the conditions of modern globalization.

The draft law defines the principles and procedures for declaring the presence of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Uzbekistan unacceptable. Grounds for this may include public calls or actions contradicting the state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of Uzbekistan, as well as provocations of interstate, social, national, racial, and religious enmity, and actions that discredit the honor, dignity, and history of the people of Uzbekistan.

The draft law also proposes a five-year ban on entry into Uzbekistan for such foreign citizens and stateless persons, as well as prohibiting them from opening bank accounts, purchasing real estate, participating in the privatization of state property, and entering into financial and contractual relationships.

Additionally, the document specifies the grounds and procedures for deporting individuals who are not permitted to stay in the country.

It is noted that the adoption of this draft law will contribute to strengthening the state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of Uzbekistan, protecting interstate, interethnic, and interreligious harmony, as well as ensuring respect for the honor, dignity, and history of the people of Uzbekistan.

The draft law was adopted at the session in the third reading.
