Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the next plenary meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On licensing, permitting and notification procedures” was considered in the first reading.

It was noted that our country is improving the system of ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens with regard to freedom of conscience and religious beliefs, and their support from the state, creating wide opportunities for citizens to perform the Umrah pilgrimage. However, the lack of clear legal mechanisms for organizing and conducting Umrah events does not allow the rights of pilgrims to be fully protected.

This bill, in order to legally regulate the Umrah pilgrimage by citizens and ensure the rights of pilgrims, introduces additional norms into the Law “On Licensing, Permits and Notification Procedures” for the provision of services related to the organization and conduct of Umrah events.

The mechanisms for creating conditions for the correct and safe performance of Umrah rites by pilgrims, protecting their rights and legitimate interests abroad and ensuring access to guaranteed services, the security of funds allocated for public procurement, and their secure storage are also clearly defined.

The draft law was adopted by deputies.
