The legal framework for the activities of trade union organizations is being improved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the fifty-third plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, senators approved the Law “On introducing additions and changes to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with determining the procedure for registering trade union organizations that do not have the status of a legal entity.”

In recent years, the country has implemented measures aimed at increasing the efficiency of trade union organizations, ensuring the protection of the rights of their members, as well as developing the legal framework regulating the activities of trade union organizations.

At the same time, in practice there are problems with opening bank accounts by trade union divisions and primary trade union organizations that do not have the status of a legal entity, since this requires obtaining a taxpayer identification number.

The law introduces an addition to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, providing for the assignment of a taxpayer identification number to divisions of trade unions and primary trade union organizations that do not have the status of a legal entity.

In addition, amendments are being made to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Trade Unions” to provide for the possibility of registering with the justice authorities divisions of trade unions and primary trade union organizations that do not have the status of a legal entity, and the determination of this procedure by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the senators, the Law serves to ensure the full implementation of financial activities by divisions of trade unions and primary trade union organizations that do not have the status of a legal entity.
