Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Senate of Oliy Majlis approved the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Tourism” in a new edition on 21 June 2019.
It was noted that the document was developed in order to form the legal and institutional base of state regulation of tourist activities, assist in promoting the national tourist product on the domestic and world markets, creating favorable conditions for the development of the travel industry.
The law defines the main directions of state policy in the field of tourism. Among them, creating favorable conditions for investment in the tourism industry, developing public-private partnerships, establishing tax and customs benefits, creating new jobs, supporting and encouraging the introduction of innovative and information and communication technologies, stimulating the development of tourist zones and tourist clusters.
At the same time, the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers include ensuring the implementation of a unified state policy, developing and coordinating the implementation of state programs, establishing the procedure for creating tourist zones, tourist clusters.
It also determines the procedure for the formation and use of funds from the extrabudgetary foundation to support the tourism sector and develop interagency cooperation on attracting investment in tourism. It will also regulate implementation of tourism development projects, approval of rules of rendering hotel services, services of tour operators and travel agents, and others.
The provisions of the Law define such basic principles as the priority of protecting the rights, freedoms, legitimate interests and security of subjects in the field of tourism, the sustainability of tourism development and the creation of favorable conditions for it, support for entrepreneurship and the development of competition in tourism, publicity and openness in tourism.
In addition, the Law establishes the forms of international and domestic tourism, as well as its types - cultural, historical, pilgrim, ecological, educational, ethnographic, gastronomic, business, social, sports, medical, youth, agritourism, etc.
It was noted that the Law will contribute to the development of tourism as a strategic sector of the country's economy, ultimately improving the level and quality of life of the population. The law is approved by the senators.
