Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The construction of the Samarkand tourist center Silk Road Samarkand, a large-scale project, a symbol of New Samarkand, designed to become a modern landmark throughout Central Asia, is nearing completion.
The first official events on the territory of the complex will be held in July, the delegations of the government of the country, the diplomatic corps and public figures will take part in the solemn ceremony of launching the center. In September, Silk Road Samarkand plans to receive the first tourists and become a venue for major events.
The solemn event will unfold on the territory of the Eternal City historical and ethnographic park, which occupies more than 10 hectares and is part of the center. Eminent artists, craftsmen and artisans of modern Uzbekistan worked on its creation.
At the walls of the Eternal City, immersed in the national color of turquoise domes and mosaic patterns, a grandiose theatrical show will take place, which was created by an international team of directors, choreographers, actors, screenwriters and technical specialists. Artist-painter Bobur Ismoilov, who acted as the author and ideological inspirer of the artistic component of the show, says: “Time is fleeting. Now we can turn around and look at the path we have traveled, thorny and difficult. These are three years of construction, inventions, revitalization of our fantasies. Now we are waiting for the moment when this child will be born. We feel his heartbeat, it pulsates in the soul of each of us. We are waiting for the magic. The opening ceremony is a continuation of the fairy tale that we have been writing over the past few years. This is the beginning of a new chapter in what I hope is a multi-volume tale."
According to the creative team, the details of the show program will be known closer to the event, but for now, the last finishing work is being completed in Silk Road Samarkand, operational activities are being set up, as well as landscaping and landscaping work. At the same time, personnel training is being carried out, the number of which will reach 1,000 at the time of launch, and about 1,700 during the maximum load period.
Artyom Egikyan, General Director of the Management Company Silk Road Samarkand, notes: “Three years later, with trepidation and pride, we are waiting for the opening of Silk Road Samarkand. An international team of hoteliers is working on the project, whose credo sounds like “there is no limit to perfection”. I am sure that this unique tourist complex will eventually become a model of world-class hospitality for the whole of Central Asia. The opening of the Silk Road Samarkand is a grandiose event not only for the people involved in it, but also for the country as a whole.”
The construction of a large-scale project became possible thanks to the Enter Engineering Group of Companies, which acted as its general contractor. The company performed a full range of works on the construction of a multifunctional complex, including construction and electrical work, finishing the facades of buildings and landscaping the territory of the center. 12 bridges have been erected, 46 hectares of artificial canals have been cleaned and improved, including a rowing canal 2,215 meters long, and about 20 km of roads have been laid. More than 10,000 specialists were involved in the construction of the Silk Road Samarkand, of which more than 2,000 are foreign. The number of used equipment exceeded 900 units. Authorized Representative of Enter Engineering in Uzbekistan Tengko Alfonso Samonte said: “This is one of the largest projects of our company. And we really have something to be proud of. This tourist complex will become not only a landmark of Uzbekistan, but of the entire Central Asian region. It is difficult to overestimate the work done by the company’s specialists. Thousands of specialists and hundreds of pieces of equipment! It’s no secret that this is one of the most anticipated projects in our country, and we are proud that it was delivered on time."
Multifunctional tourist center Silk Road Samarkand in September will open the doors of eight hotels of international level with a total fund of about 1,200 rooms. One of them will become the first five-star hotel in Central Asia, included in the association of leading hotels in the world - The Leading Hotels of the World.
The center plans to meet not only travelers, but also business guests. A congress center with an area of 18,000 square meters was built especially for them. The high-tech venue has thirteen conference rooms for up to 3,500 participants. Health tourism will become another direction of the complex. The medical cluster of the resort is represented by four Wellness Park Hotels. Each of them will work according to programs designed for a comprehensive medical examination and improvement of the body.
These locations are united by the largest park in Central Asia, spread over an area of 120 hectares out of 260 hectares of Silk Road Samarkand. Over 280,000 trees and shrubs from Germany, Belgium, Italy and Holland have been planted in the park. There are 50 species in total, including: 5 varieties of sakura, magnolia, bamboo, willow and others. Guests will be able to see 10,000 local plants: the best varieties of apples, grapes, pomegranates, mulberries, as well as plum, peach and apricot trees.
The work of Silk Road Samarkand is built taking into account the careful and environmentally friendly use of natural resources. It will be possible to move around the territory of the resort only by "green" transport.
Convenient transport accessibility, opportunities for recreation, business tasks, gastronomic and medical tourism, as well as rich cultural traditions and majestic sights of the city of Samarkand rightfully endow Silk Road Samarkand with the title of one of the best tourism projects in Central Asia and a driver for the development of the region.
