Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 December 2020, Tashkent will host a grand sporting event - the II International Tashkent Marathon. The marathon was scheduled for 22 March 2020, but was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The race will be organized in 2 distances: in the classic marathon for men and women with a distance of 42,195 meters and a half marathon with a distance of 21,097.5 meters.
The marathon distances are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Runs AIMS, which is a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics.
The sports event was organized by the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation in cooperation with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development.
Participants of the marathon will start from the site located at the intersection of Afrasiyab and Beshyagach streets, opposite the Humo Arena Ice Palace. Each participant will receive an individual number with an electronic chip, thanks to which his time of passing the distance will be recorded. For marathon and half marathon distances, a time limit will be set, and athletes are required to cover the distance during this time.
The age of the marathon and half marathon participants is from 18 years and older. All interested athletes can take part in the marathon, regardless of the host country.
The prize fund of the II Tashkent International Marathon will be distributed as follows:
1st place - 30 million soums
2nd place - 20 million soums
3rd place - 10 million soums
All winners will be awarded medals and prizes.
The organizing committee, together with law enforcement and medical institutions, will ensure a high and safe level of the marathon. During the event, all safety measures for participants, judges and volunteers of the competition will be strictly observed.
