Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Dr. Grethel Aguilar, arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the upcoming UN Conference CMS COP14 in Samarkand from 12 to 17 February. 

The distinguished guest was met at the Tashkent International Airport by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Jusipbek Kazbekov.

Dr. Grethel Aguilar has served as head of IUCN since October 2023. She has 30 years of experience in the field of nature conservation and sustainable development, application of environmental legislation in cooperation with governments and civil society.

Within the framework of CMS COP14 it is planned to open the first representative office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Central Asia, which will be located in Tashkent.
