The first stage of the reconstruction of the airport terminal has been completed in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 September 2023, a grand opening of the arrivals terminal of Namangan International Airport took place.

The updated terminal received the first 171 passengers of Uzbekistan Airways flight HY9830, flying on the Yekaterinburg-Namangan route, and 63 passengers of Silk Avia flight US501, who arrived in Namangan from Tashkent.

“Today we have gathered to open a new arrival hall at the Namangan airport. In my opinion, this is one of the attributes of independence - the ability to carry out international flights and have a peaceful calm sky above our heads,” the khokim of Namangan region Shavkat Abdurazakov said.

The total area for passenger service in the arrivals terminal has increased from 720 sq.m. up to 1756 sq.m. Of these, 1365 sq.m. amounted to an area for serving passengers of international flights and 391 sq.m. - for internal.

Thus, the terminal’s throughput increased 3 times - from 100 to 300 passengers per peak hour.

“The new terminal of Namangan International Airport, which you see today, was reconstructed and put into operation in the shortest possible time. All the indicators that we have achieved to date will further increase the competitiveness of Uzbekistan Airports and create the basis for turning international airports into regional aviation hubs,” Javlon Umarkhojaev, Acting Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports, said.

Also, as part of the reconstruction, new conveyor belts, border control booths, economical water heaters, cooling systems and underfloor heating radiators were installed in the arrivals terminal. Energy-saving solar panels were installed in the airport terminal, providing electricity for up to 30% of the total demand of the terminal. In addition, a new automated parking lot for 100 parking spaces was opened.

“We built the new terminal in such a way as to create all the necessary conditions that meet international standards for the quality of passenger service, while using domestic materials in the reconstruction to a large extent. We are proud to be the first among the international airports in the Ferghana Valley to install solar panels, and we are confident that we will create a trend of saving electricity not only among our colleagues, but also among the population. We are very pleased that from now on, residents of the city and guests of our country will be greeted by an updated terminal with advanced airport services technologies,” summed up the director of Namangan International Airport Kobiljon Abdunazarov.

It is worth noting that the second stage of reconstruction - the departure terminal - will begin in September 2023.
