Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 August  2024, the first video dialogue between the interparliamentary friendship groups was held to strengthen cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The agenda of the meeting included issues related to the further development of Uzbek-Egyptian relations in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and interparliamentary fields, and expanding the scope of cooperation.

It was particularly noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt, based on strategic partnership, have reached a new level of development in content and quality, thanks to visits and regular dialogues between the presidents of the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized that the similarity of shared historical, cultural values, and customs is a key factor in the relationship and cultural-humanitarian ties between the two countries. The need for joint projects in the fields of science, education, the study of rare manuscripts, medicine, tourism, and hospitality was discussed.

The Egyptian side wished success in the upcoming important political event — the parliamentary elections taking place in Uzbekistan this year, and expressed readiness to participate in these elections as international observers.

During the dialogue, an agreement was reached to establish systematic parliamentary oversight to ensure the implementation of high-level agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries.

At the end of the conversation, an agreement was reached to organize the next meeting of the interparliamentary friendship group in either Tashkent or Cairo, including coordinating the date and agenda of the event through diplomatic channels.
