Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The forum is being held for the thirteenth time, it brought together more than 4.5 thousand people from 75 countries. The key theme of ATOMEXPO 2024 is the fourth generation of reactor technologies and Russia’s leadership in this area. Opening the forum, the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, noted that Atomexpo 2024 was a record-breaking number of international participants.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, emphasized that the forum was an important milestone in the global calendar of nuclear events.
Immediately after the opening of the forum, there was a direct line with Seversk, Tomsk region, where the construction site of the world’s first fourth-generation energy complex is located. The technical readiness of the fabrication and refabrication module for the production of nuclear fuel was confirmed live.
The global development of nuclear energy was discussed at the plenary session of the forum’s business program. Its theme was designated as: “Clean Energy: Creating the Future Together.”
On the sidelines of the forum, Rosatom signed a number of important agreements with Russian and foreign partners. In particular, a roadmap for establishing dialogue in the field of peaceful nuclear energy was signed with Mali. The document defines specific steps by both parties to create the human resources potential of the West African country in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, develop nuclear infrastructure and create a positive public opinion in Mali regarding nuclear energy.
A comprehensive program of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in the field of nuclear, non-energy and non-nuclear projects was signed. It sets out the main objectives of cooperation for the next few years, including the implementation of joint investment projects and the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in the Belarusian energy and industry.
