The first advanced engineering school is being established in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 April 2025, during the "INNOPROM. Central Asia" exhibition, an agreement was signed to establish the first Advanced Engineering School in Uzbekistan, named "GeoMetTech."
The initiative is being implemented under the directive of the President of Uzbekistan, in partnership between the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AGMK) and the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISIS).
The agreement was signed by MISIS Rector Alevtina Chernikova and the Chairman of the Board of AGMK, Abdullah Khursanov.
The goal of the school is to train engineering professionals for the country's industries. Classes will begin on September 1, 2025, focusing on the "Metallurgy" field. Students will have the option to specialize in either "Mineral Processing" or "Digital Process Control."
The education will be highly practical, with students starting to tackle real-world production tasks from their first year of the master's program. An educational factory with laboratories and a design and engineering bureau will also be established.
A unique feature of the model is that students will acquire vocational skills, with the potential for employment at AGMK. The new school aims to train specialists with innovative thinking and relevant digital competencies.
