The film dedicated to Uzbekistan scored a record number of views on the French television channel France 5

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The leading French television channel France 5 aired a new film on Uzbekistan, which was broadcast as part of the popular in France cognitive program Echappées Belles, Dunyo reported.

The first show received numerous favorable reviews in the French press. The program was watched by a record number of viewers - 1.3 million people, and this is the fourth best indicator in the history of the program.

The film was shot by the French film company BO Travail in cooperation with the Embassy of our country in Paris and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the development of tourism. The shooting took place in Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva, Jizzakh, Nukus and Muinak.

At the beginning of the story, the famous French journalist Sophie Jovillard, the host of the Echappées Belles program, talks about the Great Silk Road connecting East and West, revealing to the viewer Uzbekistan at the crossroads of this historical route. “The country has managed to maintain its rich culture, unique architecture and traditional hospitality,” she said.

About Tashkent it is said that throughout its history it occupied a key place on the Great Silk Road. Special attention is paid to the historical role of the great commander and statesman of his era Amir Temur.

The French reporter admires the beauty of the Tashkent metro, through which she gets to the Chorsu market. At the Eastern Bazaar, S. Jovillard plunges into the atmosphere of trade and the aromas of oriental cuisine, tastes dried fruits and oriental sweets, and also gets acquainted with the exquisite Uzbek fabric - “adras”.

Samarkand is presented in the film by a story about the Registan architectural ensemble, the Meros paper mill, where they make the famous Samarkand paper using old technologies.

The story about Bukhara shows the traditions of manufacturing ceramic products. Separate stories are devoted to the craftsmanship of artistic embroidery "Suzanne" and the ancient blacksmithing craft.

The city of Bukhara, according to S. Jovillard, has been and remains a "oasis of caravans" and a "crossroads of civilizations." The film describes in detail the majestic architecture of the old part of Bukhara and its historical significance.

The French reporter calls Khiva “the city is an open-air museum - the pearl of the East”. In her opinion, there are no analogues of such a unique city.

“The art of Khiva puppeteers attract tourists from all over the world,” she says. “Today you can buy a doll dressed in national style at every Khiva bazaar.” Our film also reflects the centuries-old traditions of darboz, tightrope walkers and equilibrists.

In Karakalpakstan, French documentary filmmakers took off local attractions, including the Savitsky State Museum of Art, which, thanks to its rich collection of ancient, applied, and contemporary art, has become a pilgrimage site for people from all over the world. They tried to talk about the original culture of the local population, traditional nomadic yurts and exotic camel rides.

Our film contains stories about efforts to mitigate the drying up of the Aral Sea, and to preserve the flora and fauna of the region. It tells about the port of Muynak, where the ships of the dried sea attract the attention of tourists.

Uzbekistan, sincerely recognized by French filmmakers, impressed not only with the grandeur of its history and culture, but also with its unique multiculturalism, tolerance, and hospitality of the Uzbek people.

The film will be re-screened on 10 May. It will also be published on the France 5 online platform and on the Echappées Belles social networking pages.
