Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved roadmap on the formation of a common market for organic agricultural products.

Organic agriculture is a form of farming that combines the best practices of using natural resources, taking into account the natural and climatic conditions of the region, preserving biodiversity, applying high production standards that meet the requirements of a growing number of consumers of organic products obtained using natural substances and natural processes.

The roadmap notes that the turnover of organic products in the world is about US$90 billion and annually increases by 10-15%. In this regard, it is emphasized that in the face of growing global demand for organic products, it is important to jointly develop organic agriculture in the states of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as to ensure the entry of organic goods of the EAEU to the markets of third countries.

In this regard, the roadmap envisages the development of a draft international treaty, the purpose of which.

1) Harmonization of the legislation of the EEC countries in the field of organic agriculture.

2) Unification of the procedure for the production, labeling, certification and import of organic products into the customs territory of the EEC.

3) Ensuring mutual recognition of documents on conformity and quality assessment of organic products.

In addition, the EEC will cooperate with international organizations - the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (Germany) and the Scientific Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (Switzerland) and work out the issues of access of EEC organic products to the markets of third countries.

In general, according to experts, the formation of a single market for organic products meets the basic goal of the EEC - free circulation of goods and is aimed, first of all, at reducing the administrative burden on business in mutual trade within the Union.
