Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 February, Akmal Saidov, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights, during his working visit to Qatar met with our compatriots living in this country. During the dialogue, the essence and significance of socio-political, legal, educational, cultural and humanitarian reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan were discussed.

According to Article 23 of the new edition of the Constitution, “The Republic of Uzbekistan guarantees protection and patronage to its citizens both on its territory and abroad. A citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan cannot be expelled from Uzbekistan or extradited to another country. The state takes care of maintaining and developing relations with compatriots living abroad, in accordance with the norms of international law.”

These constitutional norms are consonant with the words of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev: “No one should ever forget: no matter how difficult it is, no matter how much money and opportunities are required, not a single citizen of Uzbekistan will be left alone.” And the correctness of these words has been confirmed in practice over the past eight years.

In this regard, special mention should be made of the “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy, approved by the Presidential Decree of 11 September 2023. The 94th goal of this program document is called “Supporting compatriots living abroad, introducing a system of constant communication with them,” and it defines a number of priority tasks.

On the other hand, the draft State Program for the implementation of the strategy “Uzbekistan-2030” in 2024 - in the “Year of Support for Youth and Business” - is being actively discussed by the general public of our country.

This important draft document also provides for certain urgent tasks related to supporting compatriots living abroad.

In this direction, it is envisaged, in particular, the organization of the “World Congress of Citizens of Uzbekistan” and its holding at a high level; the launch of an online electronic portal at the Vatandoslar public fund, providing round-the-clock remote service to compatriots who find themselves in difficult life situations abroad. Among compatriots abroad, great interest is shown in the noble goal of organizing cultural and educational events under the common slogan “We will unite.”

Compatriots who spoke at the event noted that the leadership of our country strongly supports citizens of Uzbekistan abroad. They expressed gratitude for such care.

During the dialogue, the project of the State Program for the implementation of the strategy “Uzbekistan-2030” in the “Year of Support for Youth and Business” was supported. Our compatriots living in Qatar expressed their practical proposals for the project.
