Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Tashkent Main Internal Affairs Directorate announced that courts had passed sentences against three men detained late last year during large-scale raids to identify street gangs and criminal groups.

The criminal court of the Shaykhantakhur district sentenced Azlarkhon Mukhamedjanov to 5 years in prison. He was found guilty under points “a” and “c” of Part 2 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (robbery committed with the use of violence not dangerous to life or health, or with the threat of such violence, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). Mukhamedjanov was detained in December 2023.

The Criminal Court of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District found Sunnatulla Kholmuradov guilty of intentional grievous bodily harm for hooligan reasons (clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison. His arrest also took place in December.

Umidjon Urinov was sentenced to 6 years and 11 months in prison. Urinov was found guilty of points “b” and “c” of part 2 of Article 277 (hooliganism committed by a group of persons and associated with a demonstration, threat of use or use of bladed weapons or objects, the use of which can objectively cause harm to health), as well as points “b” and “c” of Part 2 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code (illegal travel abroad or illegal entry into Uzbekistan by prior conspiracy by a group of persons repeatedly or by a dangerous recidivist).
