Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, the trial in the case of sexual exploitation of a minor was completed.
The press service of the Children’s Ombudsman reported that the criminal court of the Shakhrisabz district of the Kashkadarya region issued a verdict in this case. The appellate instance upheld the decision of the trial court.
In November, the girl contacted the Children’s Ombudsman and claimed that the girl was a victim of forced sexual activity. From May to November, she was kept in the house of local resident N.A., who forced her to have sexual relations with different people, using violence and threats.
In December, Children’s Ombudsman Surayyo Rakhmonova visited the girl. At the request of the Children’s Ombudsman, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan took control of the case.
In accordance with the decision of the court N.A. received a sentence of 7.5 years in prison for human trafficking and involving a minor in antisocial behavior. Two men, A.F. and Sh.U., were sentenced to 9 years in prison for similar crimes, as well as for rape of a minor.
According to the new legislation, those convicted under these articles do not have the right to a reduced sentence and must serve it in full.
Currently, the girl is receiving the necessary social, legal and psychological support from the Office of the Children’s Ombudsman and other organizations.
