The Council of Heads of states of the CIS approved the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2024–2028

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a meeting of the Council of Heads of states of the CIS, which took place on 13 October 2023 in Bishkek, the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2024–2028 was approved, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

The program includes a complex of organizational, legal, practical, informational, scientific activities related to combating crime in all forms of its manifestation, including illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, human trafficking, illegal migration, as well as crimes carried out using information technology.

The document envisages the improvement of existing legal mechanisms for information interaction between the competent authorities of the CIS member states and the CIS industry cooperation bodies in the field of security and law enforcement on issues of combating transnational crime, and the improvement of the CIS model legislation in the field of combating crime.

Particular attention in the Program is paid to carrying out complex joint and (or) coordinated interdepartmental operational and preventive measures, continuing the practice of participating in joint exercises, training, preventive, special, operational and other activities in the framework of countering cross-border challenges and threats and improving cooperation between CIS bodies and working structures of international organizations.

The document also stipulates the continued exchange of information on issues of combating crime in the CIS member states, including on the facts of entry into the CIS member states and departure abroad, possible places of stay and travel routes of leaders and participants of organized criminal groups; about persons hiding from trial and investigation for crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature, as well as those wanted for participation in hostilities as part of international terrorist organizations; about illegal migrants and persons whose entry into the CIS member states is prohibited in accordance with their national legislation, as well as identified channels of illegal migration.

Within the framework of the Program, it is planned to conduct a number of events on cooperation in combating crime, including under the auspices of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states.

Certain sections of the Program contain activities aimed at developing interaction in the humanitarian sphere, improving personnel work, including cooperation in training, retraining and advanced training of personnel for law enforcement agencies.
