The Competition Development Committee is studying the UNG Petro privatization deal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights is studying a deal to privatize the operator of the UNG Petro gas station network. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the department Farrukh Karabaev.

According to him, the Committee maintains state control over economic concentration and gives its preliminary consent to it. However, this requirement does not apply to some transactions, including those carried out by decision of the president.

Farrukh Karabaev noted that the committee is studying the situation. “If in this case the investor’s influence on legislative documents is detected, then we will carry out the work in accordance with the law,” Farrukh Karabaev noted.

“Right now I cannot voice the specific position of the committee, but after completing the study of the deal, we will provide our conclusion,” he concluded.

In March, the Petroleum Technology Group became the owner of the UNG Petro gas station network. Before this, the only founder of the gas station operator was the state company Uzbekneftegaz.

A few days later it turned out that Petroleum Technology Group became the owner of the Chinaz Oil Refinery. The enterprise was previously entirely owned by the state company Uzbekneftegaz.

Petroleum Technology Group was incorporated on 4 October 2023 and specializes in business and management consultancy.

The founders of the company are Delta Global Dynamics (1%) and Daniyar Kamilov (99%). The latter also owns 100% of Delta Global Dynamics and is the son of Abdulaziz Kamilov, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and current Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan.
