The Collegium for Criminal Cases in Karakalpakstan completed an open trial against two defendants without their participation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 May, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Court of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, chaired by Judge S. Davletmuratov, completed an open trial in a criminal case against Amanbay Sagidullayev (born in 1967) and Urazbaev Nietbay (born in 1969) and announced the verdict. This was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan. The start of the process was announced at the end of March.

According to the report, the process took place without the participation of the defendants, since they are outside the territory of Uzbekistan and it was not possible to bring them to court.

Amanbai Sagidullayev, leader of the Alga Karakalpakstan party, lives in Norway, Nietbai Urazbaev (1969) is the chairman of the Karakalpak ethno-cultural association of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan "Allayar Zholy", where he lives.

Amanbay Sagidullayev was sentenced to 18 years in prison for committing crimes under:

part 3 of article 158 (public insult or slander against the President of Uzbekistan using the Internet);

Parts 1 and 4 of Article 159 (public calls for an unconstitutional change in the state system or the seizure of power, or for an unconstitutional violation of the unity of the territory of Uzbekistan, a conspiracy to seize power or overthrow the constitutional order of Uzbekistan);

part 3 of article 244 (organization of riots accompanied by violence, pogroms, arson, resistance to a representative of the authorities with the use or threat of use of weapons);

paragraphs "a" and "d" of part 3 of article 244-1 (production, storage, distribution or demonstration of materials containing a threat to public safety and public order by prior agreement or by a group of persons, using the media or the Internet).

According to the court ruling, he must serve the first 2 years of his sentence in prison, the rest in a penal colony.

Nietbay Urazbaev was found guilty of committing crimes under part 4 of article 159 (conspiracy to seize power or overthrow the constitutional order of Uzbekistan), part 3 of article 244 (organization of riots accompanied by violence against a person, pogroms, arson, damage or destruction of property, resistance representative of the authorities with the use or threat of use of weapons or other items used as weapons, as well as active participation in mass riots) and paragraphs "a" and "d" of part 3 of article 244-1 (production, storage, distribution or demonstration of materials, containing a threat to public safety and public order, by prior agreement or by a group of persons, using the media or the Internet).

He was sentenced to 12 years in prison to be served in a penal colony.

Paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 104 (deliberate grievous bodily injury inflicted on two or more persons) was excluded from the charge for both defendants through article 28 (types of accomplices in the crime) due to the fact that these actions fall under part 3 of article 244 of the Criminal Code, it is noted in the message.

The court also decided to block the pages and channels of Amanbay Sagidullayev on the Internet.
