Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 February 2024, a meeting was held between Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZSE) Georgy Paresishvili and representatives of J.P. Bank. Morgan.
The discussion concerned the prospects for the development of cooperation between the bank and financial institutions of Uzbekistan.
Aigerim Shoraeva, Executive Director for Global Emerging Markets, London office of J.P. Morgan, emphasized the interest of foreign investors in the Uzbek capital market. During the meeting, possible ways to open access to the local securities market for foreign investors were discussed.
Chairman of the Board of UZSE Georgy Paresishvili spoke in detail about the procedure for opening access to the Uzbekistan market for foreign investors, highlighting the acceleration of this process and outlining different ways to implement it. He also covered the topic of the “Regulatory Sandbox” of the National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) in the field of capital market, aimed at supporting the development of the local market. The work of the Uzbek side to attract the international securities depository Clearstream to the local market was also noted.
As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further deepen cooperation. J.P. Bank Morgan invited UZSE to the international conference “JP Morgan Markets Conference”, scheduled for 25 April 2024 in Tashkent, which will be attended by representatives of the bank, international financial institutions and foreign investors.
