Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the meetings of the Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank in September this year (six sessions), 21 issues were discussed, and corresponding decisions were made.
In the area of registration and licensing, 14 issues were considered, including the registration of amendments to the charters of credit organizations (7 issues), granting qualification certificates to auditors for conducting audits in banks (2 issues), accreditation of a foreign bank’s representative office in the Republic of Uzbekistan (1 issue), permission to hold a share in the authorized capital of credit organizations (1 issue), and the review of candidates for the boards of directors and management of commercial banks, as well as employees of significant importance (3 issues).
Additionally, 7 issues concerning the financial status of credit organizations were discussed, including compliance with the Central Bank’s instructions and prudential norms, the provision of information on loans by commercial banks, and the results of inspections and studies conducted in commercial banks and microfinance organizations.
As a result of the inspections, the Central Bank imposed penalties on two banks for identified violations. All commercial banks were warned about measures and sanctions due to the untimely or incorrect submission of loan information to the State Register of Credit Information.
Moreover, the license for the payment organization UNITED PAYMENT SOLUTION was revoked because this organization had not conducted any activities for a year since obtaining the license.
The Banking Supervision Committee also ruled that, despite the obligation imposed on all payment organizations to take necessary measures to prevent payments for services prohibited by law (gambling services), the payment organization Maroqand (UPay) allowed payments for prohibited services (gambling services). Consequently, services for processing electronic payments and transferring funds to individuals using bank accounts were restricted for a period of 6 months.
