The Central Bank delegation takes part in the 4th Annual General Meeting and the Global Political Forum of the Alliance for Financial Accessibility

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Central Bank of Uzbekistan took part in the 4th Annual General Meeting and the Global Political Forum of the Alliance for Financial Accessibility (GPF AFD), organized from 11 to 13 September in Kigali (Rwanda).

Between 11 and 13 September, the AFD, with more than 100 member institutions representing 90 countries, held the Global Political Forum, which is the most important platform for the exchange of experience, knowledge and initiatives.

Each year this event is organized jointly with member institutions in different regions of the world. This year’s GPF was held under the motto “Use of technologies to engage women and youth”, which discussed the use of rapidly developing innovations in the field of financial technologies that promote the involvement of women and youth in the financial sector.

The 4th Annual General Meeting of the AFD reviewed and approved the Kigali Agreement “Accelerating Financial Integration for Disproportionately Excluded Populations”, the Financial Policy Model in the Field of Electronic Money and the Model for the Basic Set of Indicators of Financial Availability.

Traditionally, the AFD Global Political Forum held meetings of the AFD Main Working Groups and the Working Groups of the Regulatory Initiative of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (RIVECA) to summarize the work done and develop strategies for 2020.

At the plenary session, AFD members focused on key policies and practical solutions to ensure financial integrity, consumer protection and effective financial education. Rwanda’s experience in using technologies conducive to progress in ensuring the financial accessibility of marginalized groups, especially women and youth, is also reviewed.

The delegation of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan made a statement (video presentation) at the event with the adoption of the provisions of the Mayan Declaration (the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan became the 78th organization that adopted the Mayan Declaration), the main purpose of which is recognition by AFD members of their commitment to developing a policy of financial accessibility, increasing access, use and quality of financial services.
