The "Central Asia – European Union" summit to be held in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 3 to 4 April 2025, Samarkand will host the first "Central Asia – European Union" summit, gathering high-level representatives from Central Asian countries and the European Union.
The summit will be chaired by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and will include participants such as President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Under the slogan "Investing in the Future," the event will be a significant milestone for discussing the development of multilateral relations and practical cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union.
The main focus will be on expanding investment cooperation, increasing trade, and advancing joint programs in areas such as innovation, "green" energy, mining, agriculture, transport, logistics, and digitalization.
The participants will also discuss ongoing exchanges in culture, tourism, science, and education, as well as important aspects of international and regional politics.
In addition, a plenary session of the Samarkand International Climate Forum will be held on April 4, with the participation of Central Asian leaders and heads of EU institutions.
Bilateral meetings between President Mirziyoyev and leaders of foreign delegations will also take place on the sidelines of the summit.
