The Center of Tashkent district acquires a modern look

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 October, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev began a visit to the Tashkent region to familiarize himself with the lives of the population and the development of new projects in the area.

The first stop was Tashkent District, where the head of state reviewed the results of reconstruction and renewal efforts.

Previously, the district lacked a central area, but with the emergence of new buildings along Keles Yuli Street, the district’s appearance has significantly changed. The main street has been expanded and updated.

New facilities have been constructed, including a Center for Public Services, a Youth Center, a Cultural Palace, an amphitheater, a universal sports complex, a memorial square, and a recreation park.

On the site of old houses, 41 multi-story residential buildings have been erected, now housing over 11,000 people. In the commercial and service areas on the ground floors of the buildings, plans are in place to create 1,350 jobs for youth and women.

The president also visited new social facilities, such as the central hospital, a perinatal center, a kindergarten, the "Inson" Social Services Center, and the district history museum.

The issue of water supply in the area has also been resolved. With funding from the Asian Development Bank, four reservoirs were built and 365 kilometers of pipes were laid, providing clean water to 36 mahallas (neighborhoods).

In the past three years, 218 kilometers of roads have been repaired and asphalted, and this work is ongoing.

During the meeting, issues related to entrepreneurship and employment were also discussed. The economy of the district has grown by 23% over the past six months. The construction and launch of new enterprises have increased the tax base. It is expected that over 34,000 jobs will be created by the end of the year as part of employment and entrepreneurship programs.

The president emphasized the importance of utilizing the district’s opportunities to improve the welfare of residents, especially in the mahallas. He noted that with proper organization, poverty in the area can be eradicated.

It is forecasted that by the end of the year, industrial growth in the district will reach 9%, the service sector will grow by 13%, and the export volume will reach US$100 million.
