Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A decrease in the birth rate is observed in Uzbekistan, according to data from the Statistics Agency.

As of 1 April 2024, the number of newborns was 205,713, which is 4.3% less than for the same period in 2023.

At the same time, there is an increase in the number of deaths. Since the beginning of 2024, this figure has decreased by 3.1%.

Natural population growth also decreased by 1.8% and amounted to 165,516 people.

It was previously reported that as of April 22, 2024, the permanent population of Uzbekistan exceeded 37 million people.

Among them, more than 18.6 million are men, and over 18.34 million are women.
