Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 March 2024, the assets of the banking sector of Uzbekistan reached 648.62 trillion soums, which is 15% higher than in the same period in 2023. These data were published by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
Of the total assets, 44%, or 285.35 trillion soums, accounts for foreign currency.
The volume of credit investments of banks in Uzbekistan during the reporting period increased by 19% and amounted to 472.41 trillion soums. Of the total volume of loans, 44%, or 210.18 trillion soums, accounts for foreign currency.
Deposits in banks as of 1 March 2024 reached 237.94 trillion soums, which is 13% more than for the same period in 2023. Deposits in foreign currency exceeded 68.13 trillion soums (29% of total loans).
The total capital of the banking sector of Uzbekistan as of 1 March 2024 amounted to 99.05 trillion soums, which represents an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2023 (400 billion soums in foreign currency).
