Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu climbed the Pulatkhan plateau (2823 meters).

On the Pulatkhan plateau, the Ambassador of Romania recorded a short video in Uzbek with congratulations on the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the video, the Romanian Ambassador wished the Uzbek people a happy Independence Day.

Daniel Cristian Ciobanu is the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to successfully climb the Pulatkhan plateau. The Pulatkhan high-mountain plateau is located in the mountains of the Southwestern Tien Shan in the Ugam-Chatkal State National Natural Park of the Tashkent region.

Strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and educational fields is in the sphere of priority interests of Romania in Central Asia. The ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan open up new prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation.

In 2021, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu climbed the summit of Big Chimgan (3309 meters). In 2022, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu climbed the summit of Hazrat Sultan (4083 meters) in Kashkadarya region.

On 18 December 2022, the Embassy of Romania received a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for its contribution to the development and strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan. On 7 August 2023, Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu made a free flight in a hot air balloon on the occasion of the celebration of the 161st anniversary of Romanian diplomacy and the 32nd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan (the flight was carried out along the route Samsarak-Parkent lasting 60 minutes with an ascent to a height of 900 meters).
