The "Academic Mobility" Program Supports Young Scientists in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 222 from 19 April 2021, titled "On Measures to Support Talented Youth Engaged in Scientific and Innovative Activities," the Innovation Development Agency has been implementing the "Academic Mobility" program.

The program provides young scientists with the opportunity to freely access unique scientific facilities, modern laboratories, and design bureaus at scientific organizations and higher education institutions.

It allows young scientists to participate in scientific events at leading scientific centers of Uzbekistan, carry out research projects, and exchange experiences, all without leaving their primary place of work.

In 2024, around 40 projects were submitted for the program competition. A special working group evaluated the projects based on various criteria, including the relevance of the research topic, goals and objectives, and expected results. As a result, 13 winners were selected.

The Innovation Development Agency awarded them certificates for free access to modern laboratories at 8 scientific organizations in Uzbekistan for a period of 6 months, with a total value of 734 million soums. The responsibility for ensuring the necessary conditions for laboratory use lies with the deputy heads of the organizations for science and innovation.

Uzbekistan has more than 20,000 young scientists and researchers.

The program is expected to expand further to involve young scientists in research activities, create the necessary conditions for conducting research, and provide state support for scientific and innovative endeavors.

A new competition under the "Academic Mobility" program is planned to be announced in 2025.
