The 4th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the 150th Jubilee Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliament of Azerbaijan organized the fourth conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The conference was attended by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Tanzila Narbaeva, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco; IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong; and representatives from the parliaments of Non-Aligned Movement member countries.

The event was chaired by Sahiba Gafarova, who leads the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. The discussion centered around the theme "The 70th Anniversary of the Bandung Spirit: The Role of Parliaments in Supporting the Principles of Bandung."

The participants emphasized the growing importance of the Non-Aligned Movement in modern international relations, noting that the organization was created to establish just, equal, and mutually respectful relationships between states.

Uzbekistan, as an active member of the Non-Aligned Movement, consistently promotes key principles in its foreign policy — the rejection of the use of force or the threat of force, the safeguarding of state territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

In her speech, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, highlighted the importance of deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation in addressing challenges related to geopolitical instability, climate change, and global economic disruptions.

It was noted that the development of inter-parliamentary initiatives, the creation of joint committees, and active participation in international forums contribute to strengthening mutual trust between countries and formulating coordinated solutions to global issues.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Tashkent Declaration was adopted.
