Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 14th meeting of CMS COP14 started its work in Samarkand.

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov read an address from Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the meeting participants at the opening ceremony of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.

More than a hundred questions will be considered at the meeting, including:

- amendments to the CMS appendices to include 14 additional species in need of international protection, including the Eurasian lynx, bull ray, m Pallas’s cat and Magellanic plover;
- proposals for new coordinated actions as priority measures for the conservation of 7 species;
- measures to combat illegal and unsustainable fishing of migratory species;
- species-specific and range-country initiatives, such as the Central Asian Flyway and the migratory jaguar initiatives.
