Thailand delegation holds talks at Uzbekistan’s MFA
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand led by Deputy Minister Jullapong Nonsrichai has been received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 2 February 2012.

The press service of the Uzbek ministry said that the sides discussed current state and perspective direction of bilateral cooperation in various areas.

On the same, the second round of the Uzbek-Thai political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of two states. It was noted that the bilateral relations has intensified since the first round of political consultations, which was held in Bangkok in December 2010. In 2011, the sides held several joint events, which allowed to boost cooperation.

Issues of trade-economic and investment cooperation were key issue on the agenda of the talks. It was said that the First Business Forum and the first session of Intergovernmental commission on trade-economic commission, which were held in November 2010, allowed to diversify contacts in the area.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Thailand made up US$48.8 million in 2011, which is significantly higher compared to 2010.

As a perspective direction of mutual beneficial cooperation, the sides considered participation of Thai investors in projects at the Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

It was underlined that rich experience of tourism infrastructure development in Thailand attracts attention of tourism sector of Uzbekistan.

The sides expressed mutual interest to strengthen relation in culture and humanitarian spheres.

During the talks, the sides exchanged opinion on other issues, which represent mutual interest in deepening the Uzbek-Thai cooperation.
