Cooperation in the fight against the drugs trade will be one of the talking points during Deputy Foreign Minister of Thailand Sawanit Kongsiri’s official visit to Uzbekistan from 23-24 May.

The Foreign Ministry said Mr Sawanit would meet top drug suppression officials as well as hold talks with Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov during the trip.

The two will also discuss cooperation in technology and tourism, Bangkok Post reported.

Mr Sawanit and Mr Norov are also due to sign a framework agreement for bilateral cooperation in general. Plans also call for Mr Sawanit to invite Mr Norov and Uzbek President Islam Karimov to visit Thailand.
