Kawin’s outfit go into the Uzbekistan contest one point adrift of the central Asians and Australia, who meet already-eliminated Jordan in their final preliminary round match.

Thailand bounced back from a narrow 1-0 loss to the Young Socceroos in their opening match to defeat Jordan 3-2 in a full-blooded encounter.

The coach was thrilled with the victory and has encouraged his team to go all out to secure a place in the last eight with a win over Uzbekistan at Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Stadium in Khobar.

“We have nothing to lose,” said Kawin.

“We only have one chance and we must win, we cannot draw.

“We must play more attacking football.”

Thailand held a 3-0 advantage against Jordan but imploded in the final 10 minutes as the west Asians fell just short of a memorable fight back.

Kawin is aware his suspect defence must be at the top of their game against an Uzbekistan side who improved remarkably from their drab opening 1-0 win over Jordan, which came courtesy of a second-minute penalty, in their 1-1 draw with Australia.

The necessity for goals will require a careful tactical operation for Thailand, Kawin added.

“The next game we will balance defence and attack, no problem,” he said.

“Against Jordan we took the defensive midfield player out. Maybe we will play with a defensive midfielder against Uzbekistan.

“We must protect the defence but we must also have four or five attacking players because we cannot draw.”

Akhmad Ubaydullaev has vowed his Uzbekistan side will continue to improve and will secure qualification with victory over Thailand.

“We will do our best to qualify and to get three points against Thailand,” said the coach.

“Four points is not enough, so we will have to win the game.”

Uzbekistan, who entered the tournament with a host of injury concerns, were fortunate to defeat Jordan before putting on a vastly superior display in the 1-1 draw with Australia.

Captain Sherzodbek Karimov led from the front scoring a brilliant individual goal and threatening throughout but it was his mistake that allowed the Young Socceroos to equalise and deny Uzbekistan a second straight win.

Ubaydullaev rued the error but stressed there will be no repeat.

“You will see the improvement on the field,” he concluded.
