Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Temur Kapadze has been appointed the head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team. This was announced by the Uzbekistan Football Association.

Kapadze replaces Srecko Katanec, who was forced to step down due to health reasons.

The Uzbekistan Football Association conducted a thorough analysis and reviewed a wide range of candidates, including both domestic and international experts. During the selection process, the recommendations of the coaching council were taken into account, and negotiations were held with several experienced coaches.

Given the limited time before the crucial World Cup qualification matches, the decision was made to appoint someone who is well familiar with the team and the players. Temur Kapadze, who has played for the national team for many years, brings extensive experience as both a head coach and an assistant coach. Under his leadership, the Uzbekistan Olympic team achieved historic successes, which played a key role in his appointment.

The Association is confident that Kapadze’s professionalism, responsibility, authority among the players, and focus on high performance will enable him to successfully tackle the challenges ahead and achieve positive results in the upcoming important matches.

Currently, the Uzbekistan national team is undergoing a training camp in Qatar. Temur Kapadze will soon join the team and officially begin his duties.
